Life Savoring: A Modern and Simple Residence for Retirement

Creating a Safe and Stylish Living Environment

Incorporating the clients' living habits into the planning of the design, Yueh Ju Tsai focuses on a simple ambiance, smooth flows, and humanized functional equipment. With retirement on the horizon, the design not only considers the installation of safety facilities but also takes into account factors such as door opening directions and flow smoothness to improve safety and create a tailor-made living environment for the client.

In this elegant and low-saturation-color space, Yueh Ju Tsai creates an environment with modern and simple design, smooth flow, and spacious patterns. Responding to the client's clean living habits, the design uses black and white as the main axis and avoids the use of display cabinets, reducing visual oppression and forming a simple spatial order. The layout is based on a barrier-free space, considering the declining mobility and daily abilities of the occupants due to aging, resulting in a residence suitable for both current and future use.

The interior of the residence spans approximately 119 square meters and includes a living room, dining room, kitchen, balcony, three bedrooms, and two bathrooms. The design utilizes emulsion paint, railway tile, azulejo, super wear-resistant wooden floor, waterproof floor, quartz brick, iron parts, baking paint, system board, tile, artificial stone, stone, and glass to bring the design to life.

Since the house is approximately 40-50 years old, Yueh Ju Tsai faced various challenges during the renovation process. The layout of the public and private areas was readjusted, the French door of the front balcony was removed to enlarge the living room space, and the patio on the corridor was closed to create a more comfortable living area. By changing the location of the kitchen and dining room and altering the original four rooms into a three-bedroom layout, the sleeping and bathroom space of the master bedroom was expanded. Armrests were also added in each space to prevent accidents.

The project was completed in April 2020 in Taipei, Taiwan. The design is based on extensive research, eliminating extra decoration to create a neat home with a combination of black, white, and wooden color tones. The design aims to provide a comfortable and stylish living environment for retirement, retaining spaces for future installation of safety facilities. The clean and neat design elements reflect the client's personality and preferences.

Life Savoring, designed by Yueh Ju Tsai, was awarded the Iron A' Design Award in 2021 in the Interior Space, Retail, and Exhibition Design category. This prestigious award recognizes well-designed, practical, and innovative creations that meet professional and industrial requirements. The design's integration of industry best practices and competent technical characteristics contributes to a better world, providing fulfillment and positive feelings.
